Jeb was browsing through the annual report of the Kerbal Space Center on lifters, marveling at the pictures.
Commercial Crew Program
- Kerbin Orbital Services (KOS) had covered most of the UKSS flights using their C017E Charon Heavy that can take a crew of 5. Both the booster and the capsule are covered and reused. The original Charon is no longer in use.
- Space X dropped the Castor, in favor of the X400B Orbiter that has done many successful trips to the Space City hotel in LKO.
- Recent problems with the Charon have sparked some competitors to come up with new VSSTO designs.
KSC Crewed Craft
- L003D Falcon is a direct ascent Mun taxi, capable of taking a crew of 3 and 1 ton of supplies to the Mun and perform a precision landing. A total of 11 Falcon flights took place in year 03. The same craft was expected to be used in the upcoming Minmus exploration.
Commercial Cargo Lifters
- Kerbin Orbital Services (KOS) handles all small launches up to 8-tons with full recoverability. The success rate of the booster is still at 100%
KSC Cargo Lifters
- The L110A Thor can easily put 20-tons in LKO and has pushed 10-ton payloads to the Mun as well.
- The L200B Freya 01 has replaced the L110B Super Thor. This craft can put 30-tons in LKO and 15 to the Mun. It has been flown many times now and the second stage doubles as a transfer stage
- The L201A Freya Block II is a Freya with additional boosters. It can lift 40-tons to LKO and has done so to assemble the Beale 01. There is talk of adding even more boosters to this design. Since year 4 would be the year where the big mission to Duna would need to be built.
