Green Mun Fingers

It looked like a regular Freya cargo launch to the Mun base but after the fairing separated one could see that the normal octagonal base platform was replaced with the sleek design of the Falcon’s lower stage. The engineering department had decided to standardize on this design, for now. The orbit and landing were all run of the mill by now and a precision landing brought the payload close to the base after a couple of hops.

“Do I look like a farmer?” Katsuki complained as she was setting up the plumbing to connect the new module to the base. This was probably one of the last large pieces of engineering work and KSC was looking for new ways to keep their Kerbanaut active and effective.

Once everything was in place the power grid was activated and the new solar array expanded. The new section also came with a water drill and an additional ore drill. The ore and waste would feed the algae container that would produce fertilizer.

Using that, power, sunlight and lots of water they should be able to grow food on the moon. Katsuki examed the green leaves that were clearly enjoying themselves as they twisted in near zero-g towards the light. “I hope it also grows burgers,” Katsuki said to herself.
